LAS Showgirl Mural

Few things are as synonymous with Las Vegas as showgirls, so a larger-than-life homage to the iconic performers is a perfect fit for the airport welcoming visitors from all over the world.

“Folies in Flight,” a colorful, 50 foot-by-8 foot 3D mural in the Customs and Border Protection Port of Entry at LAS, was created by Terry Ritter, an artist and former dancer based in Las Vegas. The mural pays tribute to showgirls in the long-running Strip production “Folies Bergere.”

Ritter submitted the design when she learned the Clark County Department of Aviation was looking for artwork to display in a new terminal. Installation began in January 2012 and was completed in time for the grand opening of Terminal 3 later that year.

The artwork is one of the first things international travelers see when arriving in Las Vegas. On her website, Ritter says “Folies in Flight” captures the spirit of the golden era of entertainment in Las Vegas and immortalizes the achievements of performers, producers and choreographers who created these iconic productions on the world-famous Strip.
