Safety is the number one priority in aviation — on runways, taxiways and beyond. At LAS, there are several features in place to keep our customers safe on the roadways and curbs.
We know travelers are in a hurry to get to their destinations, but to do so safely, drivers need to slow down. On the road that runs alongside the Terminal 3 parking garage, crews installed speed humps and applied enhanced painting and striping earlier this summer. Fencing was erected to keep pedestrians from walking into the busy roadway, encouraging them to use crosswalks and bridges instead.
At Terminal 1 Departures, an area that consistently sees a high density mix of vehicles and pedestrians, approximately 300 safety bollards have helped create a more secure environment. The project was completed last year and included replacement of the concrete walkways on the curb with a cost-efficient material that is more durable and easier to clean and maintain.
