Showgirls wave at Porter Airlines Aircraft

March 5 marked the inaugural flight between Toronto Pearson International Airport and LAS on Canada’s Porter Airlines.

The start of this daily nonstop service was celebrated in true Las Vegas fashion, with showgirls on hand to welcome visitors.

“We’re happy to see a new airline coming in, especially a new international carrier,” said Scott Kichline, LAS managing director for commercial and business development. “Porter is a long-standing airline and their new aircraft provides them better opportunity to reach deeper into the U.S. market and bring additional visitors to Las Vegas.”

Porter offers what it calls an elevated in-flight experience, with no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine, free premium snacks and free WiFi for all customers.

The Las Vegas flights add to the airline’s growing list of destinations in the western U.S.

“Porter has grown quite a lot in the last year and Las Vegas is one of those markets that we looked at from the beginning as a key place we want to be,” said Brad Cicero, Porter’s director of communications and public affairs. “We’re starting with one daily flight and we hope we can grow that over time.”

Las Vegas continues to be a popular destination for Canadian visitors.

“We now have 141 flights arriving each week from 11 different cities across Canada,” said Kate Wik, chief marketing officer for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “That helps retain Canada as our number 1 source of international visitation for Las Vegas.”
