It’s Holiday Travel Season!

Busy departures curb

This is the time of year when many people travel to see loved ones. To reduce holiday stress, we’ve made a list of travel tips and are asking you to check it twice before heading to the airport.

Parking will be in High Demand – Consider all Options

As you head out of town for the holiday, preferred parking options will reach capacity at the airport. Make sure to allow enough time to find a spot or potentially be redirected to a location with availability.

Save time by heading directly to the Terminal 3 Long Term Garage.

  • If traveling without checked bags, go through the TSA Security Checkpoint at T3 and access your departure gate via tram.
  • If you need to check bags at T1, there is a courtesy shuttle available to transport travelers between the terminals. This service is located on Level Zero of both terminals and runs approximately every 15 minutes.

Also consider utilizing the Remote Lot located across from the Airport Rent-A-Car Center at 7140 Gillespie Street. There are plenty of spaces and the daily rate is just $12. Allow time for a shuttle ride to the terminals.

More information about the different parking options at LAS can be found here.

Know Before You Go

  • Not sure what items can go through the security checkpoint? Visit TSA.gov.
  • Review the airline’s baggage size and weight policies before arriving at the airport.
  • Don’t waste the wrapping paper, wait until you get to your destination to wrap your presents.

Delays and Cancellations

Inclement weather disrupting holiday travel is nothing new. Make sure to be prepared with essentials such as snacks, childcare items, medication, chargers, etc. in case of a delay or cancellation. The airline is the best source of information regarding updates on flight status and accommodations should plans change.

Enjoy the Season

The elves have decked the halls at LAS. Each year, the airport hosts a contest to showcase trees decorated by employees from a variety of airlines, concessions and partner organizations. The contest is also an opportunity to support our community. In line with this year’s theme, The Stockings were Hung, employees collected sock donations for the Nevada Homeless Alliance.

At the annual tree lighting ceremony in Terminal 3, the choir from nearby Doris French Elementary School entertained travelers with a selection of holiday songs and joined airport officials to flip the switch on the tree.

Trees and other decor are located throughout the terminals. Be sure to check them out!
