More than 350 local children took part in the annual Girls in Aviation Day event in the MGM Resorts Aviation hangar at Harry Reid International Airport. The event featured a variety of aircraft, including a helicopter, small planes, an MGM private jet, and Allegiant Airlines’ Vegas Golden Knights-themed plane.

Girls and boys in attendance engaged in activities throughout the day, learning about the many careers available in the aviation industry.

“Girls in Aviation Day is all about inspiring the next generation and giving them a glimpse of all the different opportunities the industry offers,” said Michelle Miller, President of the Las Vegas Chapter of Women in Aviation International. “We want young girls to see that the sky is not the limit when it comes to their future. Whether they dream of becoming a pilot, an engineer, an air traffic controller, or working in aerospace technology, there’s a place for them in aviation.”

At the event, participants met women in all aspects of aviation, learned about aircraft and flight operations, took part in STEM-focused activities and demonstrations, and received a Girls in Aviation Day backpack filled with educational materials, aviation gear, and career resources.

Girls in Aviation Day is a global initiative led by Women in Aviation International to introduce young women to the many opportunities available in aviation and aerospace careers. The Las Vegas Chapter joined more than 150 events that took place worldwide, reaching thousands of participants.
