Travelers at Harry Reid International Airport can now enjoy a more streamlined journey thanks to the introduction of a new system designed to calculate and display real-time security wait times.
The system uses AI to monitor passenger flow at security checkpoints and determine wait times at each. Those times are then displayed on flight information screens. It also tells passengers if PreCheck is available and if a checkpoint is closed.
Currently, the system is operating in Terminal 1; it will be rolled out across Terminal 3 in the coming weeks. A later phase of the project calls for estimated security wait times to be available on the airport’s website.
The introduction of AI-driven wait time calculations is just one of many improvements being implemented to better meet the needs of travelers at LAS. Other examples include an online parking reservation tool and an ongoing project to install new escalators to streamline passenger movement.
