LAS sizzles with the hottest summer travel tips

May 27, 2025 | Travel Tips

The summer travel season is upon us, and the airport is gearing up for a busy few months. If you’re getting away this summer, follow our top tips to help ensure a seamless journey!

Plan ahead

    • Book and pay for parking in advance with our popular reservation system. What began as a pilot program recently became permanent. Cost is $28 a day for Terminal 1 (Level 2M) and $21 a day for Terminal 3 (Level 1). Book here and watch the video below for more on this amenity.
    • Pack smart by reviewing your airline’s rules to avoid delays at check-in or security.
    • Know before you go by checking the TSA’s website to find out what you can bring in checked and carry-on bags. You can also message @AskTSA for packing and security screening questions.
    • Save time by checking in using your airline’s app before heading to the airport.
    • Make sure you’re REAL ID ready! As of May 7, travelers’ identification must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights. For more information, click here.
    • Take advantage of our remote bag drop service at the Airport Rent-A-Car Center. Here,  guests can drop their bags and print boarding passes before taking a shuttle to the terminal. It’s available Thursday through Monday from 4 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Airline baggage fees still apply.
    • For wheelchair service, make arrangements through your airline before arriving at the airport.

Picking up friends and family?

    • Instead of circling the airport roadways while waiting for your party to arrive, use our Cell Phone Lot. It’s free and open daily from 6 a.m.-1 a.m.
    • Coordinate meet-ups using the numbered columns in passenger pickup areas.
    • Remember, parking on the curb is not allowed. If your guests aren’t ready, pull in to Short Term parking where the first 15 minutes are free.

As you head out for your summer adventures, don’t stress! Give yourself plenty of time to drive to the airport, find a parking space, check bags and go through security. TSA recommends travelers arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international.

Happy flying!
